Cove49 began as a single field notebook — an attempt to map the open web the way surveyors map unfamiliar terrain: methodically, honestly, and without editorial agenda. That first log has grown into a directory of 834 charted entries, organised into 22 sections ranging from Courtship & Companion Sites to Expeditions & Voyage Logs.
The philosophy behind Cove49 is straightforward. The web is vast and often difficult to navigate without a reliable guide. A well-kept directory reduces that problem: it puts known, located sites in front of the person looking for them, organised by territory rather than by algorithm. Cove49 is that directory.
Every entry in Cove49 was submitted and reviewed before being added to the log. The sections reflect the actual composition of what was submitted — no section was manufactured to fill a gap, and no entry was placed to pad a tally. The Miscellaneous Outposts section exists precisely because some sites resist classification, and Cove49 is honest about that.
Cove49 is free to consult and free to submit to. Operators of websites that fit any of the 22 sections are welcome to log a submission through the standard form. Submissions are reviewed for basic quality and relevance before being added. There is no charge for inclusion.
The directory is updated as new submissions are reviewed and admitted. The survey is ongoing, the log is open, and the territory is always expanding. If you know of a site that belongs in Cove49 and is not yet charted, the submission form is the correct path forward.
